Meet the Team

Melvyn Hughes DO (M.Ost) BA (Hons)

Principal osteopath

I graduated from the European School of Osteopathy (ESO) in 2014 with an Integrated Masters Degree in Osteopathy, DO (M.Ost). My studies included anatomy, physiology, pathology, structural & functional techniques as well as massage, sports osteopathy and rehabilitation.

To train to become an osteopath in the UK takes four years and the title 'osteopath' is protected by law. It is against the law for anyone to call themselves an osteopath unless they are registered with the GOsC, which sets and promotes high standards of competency, conduct and safety.

Prior to this I studied at Kingston University, London, where I obtained a BA (Hons) Degree in Business Management.

Having worked as an osteopath since 2014 I have gained a huge amount of experience and understanding in how best to treat a wide variety of patients, from office workers to athletes and the elderly, I focus on patient led treatments and always ensure that the needs of my patients are put first. I also obtained a post graduate certificate in medical acupuncture/dry needling and commonly use this therapy alongside osteopathic techniques to help my patients get better.

I have always had a keen interest in healthy living, sport and keeping fit, this has helped shape my expertise as a practitioner, particularly in the field of sports rehabilitation and improving function. I am also passionate about rock climbing and mountaineering. I enjoy mountain biking and also love travelling and meeting new people.
