Melvyn Hughes DO (M.Ost) BA (Hons)

Melvyn graduated from the prestigious European School of Osteopathy (ESO) in 2014 with an Integrated Masters Degree in Osteopathy, DO (M.Ost). His studies included anatomy, physiology, pathology, structural & functional techniques as well as massage, sports osteopathy and rehabilitation.

To train to become an osteopath in the UK takes four years and the title ‘osteopath’ is protected by law. It is against the law for anyone to call themselves an osteopath unless they are registered with the GOsC, which sets and promotes high standards of competency, conduct and safety. Melvyn is a fully registered and insured osteopath.

Prior to his osteopathic training, Melvyn studied at Kingston University, London, where he obtained a BA (Hons) Degree in Business Management.

Having worked as an osteopath since 2014 Melvyn has gained a huge amount of experience and understanding in how best to treat a wide variety of patients, from office workers to athletes and the elderly, his focus is on patient led treatments and he always ensures that the needs of his patients are put first. Melvyn also obtained a post graduate certificate in medical acupuncture/dry needling and he commonly uses this therapy alongside osteopathic techniques to help his patients get better.

Melvyn has always had a keen interest in healthy living, sport and keeping fit, this has helped shape his expertise as a practitioner, particularly in the field of sports rehabilitation and improving function. He is passionate about rock climbing, mountaineering and enjoys mountain biking on his days off. He also loves travelling and meeting new people.
